I was really hungry after work and decided with my wife to get a take away as was too tired to go out anywhere. I came across Taste of India on the net and decided to order from them (£20 as were not delivering free under that amount) - We ordered their signature dish South Indian garlic chilli chicken it was absolutely foul and unhappily was unable to eat it - the chicken was clearly previously cooked pieces of chicken tikka bright red in colour and was simply added to some garlicy concoction which made me feel ill. I informed my wife that this was not authentic Indian food and is typical of the poor standard of Indian food we get in this country. The lamb byriyani was no improvement as it was tasteless and seemed to be a lamb curry merely mixed with rice. Now when you eat truly cooked Indian food the byriyani is white and yellow in parts with juicy tasty pieces of meat or chicken in a dry curry sauce. This was nothing like the authentic food - i should know i lived in Bahrain for years and know too well how to cook a true Byriayni - such a pity that people in this country are fooled into thinking that this is Indian food. They do not know because they are unable to taste the authentic food of Indian and middle eastern people as they are constantly palmed off with third rate ;signature curries' and poorly turned out byriyani which is not a patch on its true counterpart. I guess these guys rely on the ignorance of most people when it comes to Indian food and spices and one would need to go to India to get a real taste of Indian food - sadly, i haven't come across an authentic Indian meal yet here in England since my return in 1972.. £20 down the drain and i am still hungry should have known better!

A real let down! Been coming here for years and tonight was a disappointment. The Chicken Tikka starter only had 4 small pieces of meat in it, was a micro starter. The Lamb in the main course was so chewy I gave up in the end. We also asked for an extra mint sauce and that was not to happen. The Keama Naan was very one sided, bit of a burnt mess. The delivery itself was a little late and parts were cold. Come on guys, you are now one of the most expensive in Gloucester, you need to be worthy of that!

I normally enjoy my takeaway from Taste of India. The food is usually first class. However this evening I am very disappointed with my Southern Indian Garlic Chille Chicken. It tastes like there is a complete tube of tomato purée in it. The taste is so strong I have been unable to eat it. Hopefully this won’t be the same next time.
